XL Open Range Cuppacumbalong 700g plus 'Beyond Organic' Eggs

Cuppacumbalong' eggs. In 2003 we started with a small flock of chickens to help turn the veggie garden and graze our river paddock pasture. We have a great holistic permaculture garden, recycling everything we can from our city restaurant/eatery/bakery 'The Lobby and PorkBarrel'. Then send eggs, beetroot, pumpkins, asparagus, tomatoes etc etc back to the diners table. The chicken are ethically farmed and chemical/hormone free. Because we recycle bread from the bakery that isn't made from organic flour (normal bakers flour)we aren't able to be certified as organic. We also feed local commercial milled grain that isn't farmed organically, because if you want to buy organic grain or milled feed we have to buy it from Queensland, along all those roads that the sides have been sprayed with glyphosate and all that diesel to get to and from the grain growers and back again !

So we call our eggs " Beyond Organic' as I believe recycling and having small sustainable permaculture is more important. Anyway as soon as the organic egg grower jumps in their van/ute to deliver the eggs the fuel/vehicles aren't organic, what's that all about 'Branding ?

I don't see the organic growers turning up to sell their produce at the markets on wooden bikes !

Anyway our open range egg farming is pasture based ethical farming. The chickens live in mobile trailers in the paddock and are moved twice a week to fresh pasture. We integrate our chooks with lamb and beef production in the same paddock. The chickens feed on the green pasture and abundant insect life in it, as well as grains. We use no chemicals or man-made fertilizers on the paddock or the livestock. We farm organically and with a holistic permaculture approach. Free range is a measure of area per chicken and not how ethically layer chooks are farmed.
